Fort Lauderdale Area Residential Real Estate

Pompano Beach Real Estate

◄ Back
The town of Pompano, which took its name from the area's popular ocean fish, was incorporated in 1908. In 1947, the once small coastal town surrounded by farmland joined with the beach area to form the City of Pompano Beach. The city covers an area of 22.65 square miles in Broward County. Located minutes from Fort Lauderdale and centrally located between Palm Beach and Miami, you can enjoy the quiet oceanside lifestyle here in the heart of the Gold Coast with the benefits of a major metropolitan area. Today the area's economy is no longer dependent on farming. It has given way to a strong, diversified economy based on tourism, retail trade, high-technology companies and light manufacturing. The central location of Pompano Beach to domestic and global trade routes attracts many new businesses to our city. Pompano Beach and North Broward County are also become known as an integral part of the "Internet Coast." This corridor of high-tech companies includes Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties and features a growing region for technology-focused industry with the benefits and potential of the area a major draw to companies in the information technologies arena. The Internet Coast region was name the #1 location in the country for successful growth of small businesses by Entrepreneur Magazine and Dun and Bradstreet.

Though the City of Pompano Beach has come a long way from its beginning as a tiny seacoast town, the booming population and economic growth have not changed the lifestyle in Pompano Beach. It remains informal as a small coastal town and the pace is leisurely. Pompano Beach remains a haven for visitors to enjoy, a pleasant place to live, and a destination for a wide variety of businesses to call home.
